This is the story of Capra, an ibex, who lives in the mountains of Ethiopia, in north-east Africa.
Capra has been injured in a rockfall, and is unable to walk.
But her friends, Omo and Asha, find a way to carry her to Lake Tana, which has healing waters.
Once they arrive there, they are helped by two animal friends, Henry the hippo and Crocus the crocodile.
They float her out into the lake on a giant lily pad, and soon she is bathing beneath the healing bubbles of the crystal fountain.
"Deftly written by David Morgan Williams and colorfully illustrated with the artwork of Laura Jenkins, "The Crystal Fountain" is a picture book story that is set in Ethiopia and is the story of two children, Omo and Asha, who rescue an ibex from a landslide on Mount Ras Dashen. Original, entertaining, a modern classic in the making, "The Crystal Fountain" is very highly recommended for children ages 6 to 12 and will prove to be an enduringly popular addition to family, elementary school, and community library picture book collections." - Midwest Book Review
