Yogi: Mewn Deg Eiliad
Bryan Davies Other books by Bryan Davies
On the afternoon of Saturday 21st April 2007, Yogi heard a deafening crack in his head. When the first scrum during the rugby match between Bala and Nant Conwy broke up, the crack sounded like a "twelve bore gun" being fired inside his head, and Yogi knew instantly that he had broken his neck. It took just ten seconds for Yogi to be floored for the rest of his life. In this book we have Yogi's story since that life-changing moment. He tells of the pain, the nightmares and the numerous treatments he has had to endure, before realising his dream of returning home to Bala and his family. In the second part of each chapter Yogi looks back at the hard, uncompromising life he led before the accident. From escaping from school having punched his geography teacher aged 12, to fleeing from the police in his car, his life was one of never-ending upheaval and trouble, until he found satisfaction playing rugby for Bala and settling down in the company of the local police woman. In the third part of each chapter we have the response of that police woman, Susan, who has been like a rock to Yogi since the accident. She gives her emotional, tearful account of having to cope with this dreadful blow to the family. She faced it all with stunning positivity, and did everything she could to bring as much normality back to her life and that of Yogi, Ilan and Teleri.
